Andrew Nelson Lytle was an author of essays, novels and short stories, a professor of history and creative writing, and an editor. Lytle writes to Merton as editor of «The Sewanee Review», a quarterly published by the University of the South in Sewanee, Tennessee. Merton became a regular contributor to this publication.
