As with many such projects, a very small amount gets included in the finished film. There are extended outtakes of film footage from the documentary, but none are currently accessible in a useable format. However, audio of the full interviews and transcripts of the interviews are currently accessible. The materials were deposited by Audrey L. Glynn and Paul Wilkes.

Shannon, William H.This Records Subgroup contains one handwritten manuscript by Serge Bolshakoff, "Introduction to Wales." Bolshakoff was a close friend of Archimandrite Nicholas Gibbes and left the manuscript with him. It was passed down in the family. Charles Gibbes Paveliev donated in the manuscript in 2021. In the Merton correspondence file under Bolshakoff, there is a bibliography of Bolshakoff’s work, published and unpublished, but it does not include this work. See also correspondence for Bolshakoff.

Published copies include either original publications wherein Merton's published poems appeared or photocopies from such publications. For most users, the easiest way to find published poems is to look in the book of Merton's Collected Poems, which includes all published poems except those found in Eighteen Poems, which were published posthumously.
This records subgroup contains over 1,350 photographs and taken by Thomas Merton. Most are black and white. Most negatives were in 35mm format, but other sizes are also used (square, medium format, etc.).

This records subgroup includes papers collected by Lou Torok of his correspondence and friendship with Mother Teresa of Calcutta (Saint Teresa of Calcutta, M.C.). While serving a prison sentence in Kentucky the last decade of his life, Lou Torok petitioned a number of United States governors to proclaim October 7 (some chose another day) as Love Day. October 7 was the anniversary of the day Mother Teresa received permission to establish the congregation that would later be known as the Missionaries of Charity. The Missionaries of Charity observe October 7 as a special day of prayer for those who were hungry, suffering, or abandoned. The collection contains mostly original copies of the gubernatorial proclamations of Love Day in the mid-1990's from various states. There are also writings by and about Lou Torok and information about Mother Teresa receiving the Bellarmine Medal from Bellarmine College (now Bellarmine University).

The documentary "Work of Love" was filmed, recorded, and produced in 1981 by Michael Nabicht and Bob Sullivan, alumni of Bellarmine. The Bellarmine Medal was awarded to Mother Teresa on December 7, 1981 in India by then-President of Bellarmine, Dr. Eugene V. Petrik. Mother Teresa came to speak at Bellarmine in June of 1982. Mother Teresa wrote in 1990 to congratulate Dr. Petrik on his retirement as President of Bellarmine. She wrote again in 1991 while Dr. Petrik was ill.

Cooper, David D.This Records Subgroup contains the papers of Fr. Daniel Clark Walsh (1907-1975). Fr. Dan Walsh was a life-long educator and one of the most influential professors on Merton's life. After earning a doctorate at University of Toronto alongside Étienne Gilson, Walsh became professor at Manhattanville College in New York from 1934-1960. In addition, he was a visiting professor of philosophy at Columbia from 1936-1955, afterward serving as an adjunct professor at Columbia. In 1939, Merton had Walsh for a course on St. Thomas Aquinas. At the bar of the Biltmore Hotel in New York in 1939, Merton told Walsh of his interest in religious life. After mentioning difference orders, including that he was impressed by the Trappists at Gethsemani Abbey, Walsh recommended the Franciscans. Merton would later be rejected by the Franciscans, but remember Walsh's praise of the Trappists. Later, Walsh would join Merton at Gethsemani Abbey in 1960 as a advisor and new professor for the abbey's philosophy program. He soon became a visiting professor at Bellarmine College in Louisville. Archbishop John Floersh offered to ordain the sixty-year-old Walsh a priest in 1967. A surprised but delighted Walsh was ordained at St. Thomas Seminary, a ceremony attended by Merton. Walsh died in 1975 and is buried near the monastic enclosure at Gethsemani Abbey. (Source: The Thomas Merton Encyclopedia, pp. 515-516.)

Brown, John B.This file contains a letters to and from Merton, and a letter sent to Bishop Thomas J. Drury of San Angelo, Texas. They concern the establishment of retreat center for priest around San Angelo and with the help of Fr. Bernard Sylvanus de Aguira, O.C.S.O. They also proposed that Merton be the leader of this group of priest living a contemplative and eremitical life temporarily and while on retreat. Merton responds that he is interested in helping struggling priest and likes the retreat idea, but states that he would not be allowed to leave Gethsemani for such an endeavor. He also thinks the idea of trying to make it true contemplative life is too ambitious and confuses the end results. He suggests focusing on retreats for priests.
